There are no problems…or solutions

We are told that opportunity is in every difficulty or a solution is in every problem. That sounds great and is very encouraging, but it really doesn’t help us untie our knot. Let’s take a look.
First we must challenge our assumptions, think outside the box, so to speak. Here’s a good assumption: we believe if we look we will find. Maybe our difficulty is in the looking. If I look the solution, my belief must be that solution is not already here, so I must look for it in time (psychological time which means I must get to it)— it is somewhere other than this moment. So we look..is this it..no…is this it…no…where is that damn solution? And this becomes very frustrating because we know it is right HERE! So the more we look the more stress we create until we go for help or take a sledge hammer to the problem.
If we didn’t believe the solution was in the problem, there would be no stress. We would just give up and leave it. Sorry, there is no solution. I’m leaving. But we believe the solution is there. This is like looking for one’s glasses that are on one’s head. Sometimes another person walking in on us just points to the solution. There they are, on top of your head. This just makes us feel stupid or helpless, and that lays the ground for the next frustrating problem and the invisible solution.
So how do we find the solution that is already there? It must be already there or it wouldn’t be there. In other words, the solution must be there all the time. It can’t just materialize out of nothing. Nothing just appears like magic. It must be hidden IN the problem. So, now follow closely here, there can be no separation between the problem and solution. These are not two separate things lined up in time. First the problem, then a few moments later the solution. The problem and the solution co-exist. There are inter-dependent, like two faces on the same coin. We look at the coin one way, a problem; we flip the coin, solution! This separation is a thought in my mind. It doesn’t exist! Wow! So there it is. I create the problem, I invent the problem by naming the situation a problem!
So how do I see this! You simple let go of the idea of problem. Voila! Problem doesn’t exist and neither does solution. It is just a situation and you move through it. The idea of difficulty or problem is like a big rock in the stream that we stand on looking for a way to get back in the flow. Life is just a stream of situations. You do this, you do that….no problem.
Okay, now that you have solved this problem of the problem…here is another mind blower. When you let go of the problem that you have, you also let go of the ME that has the problem. The final assumption—but this is another story—is that all problems must have a ME that has the problem. No problem….no ME…..Our final an ultimate problem is always ME. Let go of that and you are free!
