From Words of Wisdom; Swami Satchidananda
“There is a proverb, ‘As you think, so you become.’ In Sanskrit the very same thing is said, mana eva manusyaanaam, ‘As the mind, so the man.’ If you are constantly thinking of something—whether you know it or not, whether you want it or not—you will slowly get those qualities. If you constantly think of a thief, how he stole, how he robbed the bank, one day you will become a thief. Because you are thinking of that quality of thievery, you will assume it. That is the power of concentration, or constantly focusing on something. That is the reason why you are asked not to think of bad things or the bad qualities of other people. If you see something good in somebody, think of that. If you have that attitude, not only will you benefit, but you will also benefit others.
“God bless you. OM Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.”
