Hidden between Charlottesville and Farmville in Buckingham County, Virginia, on the banks of the James River is a unexpected spiritual treasure that one comes upon when the time is right for you to discover it. LOTUS, The Light of Truth Universal Shrine, envisioned and built by Swami Satchidananda’s Integral Yoga in the 1980s, is dedicated to the unification of all religious teachings. The mantra that rings through the Lotus like a bell toll is Truth is One: Paths are Many. Here are some pictures I’ve taken over the years at the Lotus. Also notice the religious statues that are encased in altar beneath the meditation dome. How many ways has man given names and images to God?
